Dear Parents, 

Caring for children is both a privilege and a responsibility we hold very close to heart at Green Bean Day School & Nursery. Every day, families place an extraordinary amount of trust in us, and it’s something we never take lightly. Our goal has always been simple: to create a place where children feel safe, cared for, and excited to learn, and where parents feel confident leaving their little ones in our care.

In 2023, our school was the subject of an external investigation conducted by DCFS. We fully cooperated throughout the process and welcomed the opportunity to review our practices alongside regulatory authorities. The investigation concluded without a finding of wrongdoing.

Even so, we understand that any matter involving children deserves thoughtfulness and transparency. Situations like this can raise understandable questions for families, and we are truly sorry for any concern or uncertainty it may have caused those who trust us with their children each day.

Over the past 17 years, Green Bean Day School & Nursery has grown into a trusted place for children and families in our community. That history means a great deal to us, and it also reminds us that strong programs are built through reflection and a commitment to always doing better. Over the past year in particular, we have taken this moment as an opportunity to thoughtfully review our practices and strengthen our program. We have implemented several meaningful steps to continue raising the bar for the experience we provide our families and the care we give every child. These steps include:

Expanded staff training and professional development, with a deeper focus on child supervision, safety practices, communication, and early childhood best practices. We have also reviewed and strengthened our internal policies to ensure they are as thorough as possible for both staff and families.

We’ve placed an even greater emphasis on communication. Sharing more consistent updates, refining reporting processes. Internally, we continue to nurture a culture of teamwork and accountability, where staff support one another and feel empowered to speak up, learn, and grow together.

We have an open-door philosophy. Families are always welcome to visit, observe, and stay closely connected to their child’s day-to-day experience.

Above all else, our focus remains where it has always been: the children. Each day at Green Bean is filled with curiosity and learning - making early childhood so special. Our team shows up every morning with the intention of creating a warm and joyful environment where every child feels valued.

We are deeply grateful for the trust our families place in us and for the support of our community. Being part of your child’s early years is something we consider an honor.
