Dear Parents,
Caring for children is both a privilege and a responsibility that we at Green Bean Day School & Nursery take very seriously every single day. The trust families place in us means everything, and we remain committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where children can learn and feel safe and secure.
In 2023, our daycare was the subject of an external investigation with the DCFS. We cooperated fully with the process and welcomed the opportunity to review our practices alongside regulatory authorities. The investigation concluded without a determination of wrongdoing.
While the findings were inconclusive, we understand that any situation involving children deserves careful attention and transparency. We recognize that this experience may have caused worry or uncertainty for some families, and we are truly sorry for any distress it may have brought to parents who trust us with their children each day.
As an organization, we chose to view this experience as an opportunity to strengthen our program even further. Over the past year, we have taken meaningful steps to reflect and grow. These steps include:
Enhancing staff training, with additional professional development focused on child supervision, safety practices, communication, and early childhood best practices.
Reviewing and strengthening internal policies and procedures to ensure they reflect the highest standards of care and clarity for our staff and families.
Increasing communication with families, including more consistent updates, clearer reporting processes, and opportunities for parents to ask questions or share feedback.
Reinforcing our culture of accountability and teamwork, where staff feel empowered to speak up, support one another, and continually improve our practices.
Maintaining an open-door philosophy, encouraging families to visit, observe, and stay actively involved in their child’s experience.
We believe that strong programs are built not only on policies, but on continuous learning, humility, and dedication to improvement.
This experience has reaffirmed our commitment to reflection and growth so we can continue to provide the highest level of care possible.
Most importantly, we remain focused on what matters most: the children in our care. Every day, we strive to create a warm, joyful environment where children feel valued, greatly supported, and excited to learn.
